.. [Return to Glasgow Theatres Index]

Built in 1904, The King's Theatre is one of Glasgow's most significant theatres, designed by prolific theatre architect Frank Matcham and has showcased a host of top stars and performances ever since.

It is home to possibly one of the best Christmas pantomimes in the UK that has featured great Scottish comedians, Stanley Baxter, Jimmy Logan, Rikki Fulton, Jack Milroy and more recently, Gerard Kelly and Elaine C Smith. The Kings's Theatre played host to the inauguration of Glasgow's European City of Culture in 1990 and is a high profile venue for Glasgow's amateur groups.
